Week 9 Twitter

Twitter is a world of its own when it comes to Social Media. It not only allows you to communicate directly within a community of followers. It also allows you to direct “tweets” to particular individuals or companies irregardless if you're following/connected. Twitter is formatted to keep things short and sweet. Formatting short strategic tweets are important for a business using Twitter.

I decided while creating my “list” to think of companies or individuals that my business could grow & learn from. I categorized them into two list. List 1.) Event planners List 2.) Bloggers/Media. I searched several key words before deciding on the few I choose to add to the lists I created.

Since Poetry Events is a event planning business that specializes in marketing/promotional events I felt it important to find companies that were similar in target market. I used several keywords. Event planner, business event planner, marketing events, PR events and several more. Before following any individual or company it was important to me that the tweets were updated and the individual/company has sufficient amount of followers. I choose @chemistry_works & @moeningGroup. In searching for Bloggers/Media companies or individuals to add to my list. I searched keywords like Event blogger, Blogger events, Business event blogger, etc. @sliceofmylyfe @revolvepr

Creating a “lists” can definitely help in organizing and fulfilling a businesses marketing strategy. Filing these connections in a specified area allows you to view their tweets faster, direct tweets to them efficiently without the hassle of having to search. Most importantly it builds alliances and possibly a follow back and peak of interest to the company/ individual you've added to your list.

The best time to tweet has several factors to include. What you are tweeting? Who exactly are you wanting to reach/engage? Trying things out and tracking what works best is sound advice. However because Twitter is more of a social space for business. One could call it the “corporate break room” of social media. Twitter activity is peaked in the early morning before business hours, lunch time, and after work hours. Factor in what tweets get the most re-tweets? What tweets get the most engagement? Analyze the content, the time, and the reactions ALL assist in determining the best time to send out effective tweets.
