“ A picture says a 1000 words” an
oh so familiar cliche' we've heard many times before.
However, from the phenomenal response social sites are receiving from users intrigued by visual content, the saying should go something like this. “A picture can make you 1000's of dollars”

Ha! funny statement right!? However so
very true. Clever, compelling content is key in any businesses
social media marketing campaign. Visual content captures the users
eye and entices them to engage.
Engagement Ding! Ding! Ding! Engagement
is imperative in receiving maximum results through social media.
Instagram which predominately consist of pictures, memes, and videos
has risen to the top of the charts in regards to the amount of time
users are spending on the platform. Engaging, and ultimately
purchasing items from the attached site links.
Facebook and YouTube two very popular
sites. Similar to Instagram, pictures capture the users eye and
intrigued them to engage. Unlike Instagram YouTube is more video
content and not pictures. However both are still stimulating the
visual senses and capturing the attention of the user.
Facebook in comparison to Twitter.
Facebook allows a more “community based platform” whereas Twitter
is a one man show. Both platforms use visual content to get noticed
in a sea full of fish. Facebook has much more direct engagement .
Users are able to comment, share, like, etc. to content they connect
with.
Tumblr & Google+ are a few less
popular social sites however not necessarily in
reach, effectiveness, and amount of users. Tumblr is super
beneficial if your business wants to stay connected with millennials. Funny memes, photos, and videos that are shared grasp the attention
of our 18+ aged users and enhances brand awareness. Google+ can be a
used as a social site similar to Facebook and also as a landing page
(website) for your business.
Pinterest is designed for users to
create ideas (Pins) and share with others. This platform is great for
businesses such as interior design, landscaping, wedding planning and
so much more. Pinterest is super popular with women users and allows
businesses to showcase their unique style and previous work.
Lastly, Snapchat is just what is says.
A “snap” of what's going on in real time. Content posted on
Snapchat shows up for a limited time only. This concept encourages
users to continue to engage and stay connected. Snapchat is also very
popular with the millennials demographic. Special events,
demonstrations and trending content would be great to post on a
businesses Snap Chat.
After furthering my understanding of
the seven social platforms that are most popular in utilizing visual
content. I feel both Instagram and YouTube would be an effective way
to display what my business does and allow a more intimate view of
previous work done by my company.
Overall All 7 of the platforms can be
resourceful and effective if the proper goal and outline are clear
and executed properly!
