Week 8 Part 1


“ A picture says a 1000 words” an oh so familiar cliche' we've heard many times before.
However, from the phenomenal response social sites are receiving from users intrigued by visual content, the saying should go something like this. “A picture can make you 1000's of dollars”

Ha! funny statement right!? However so very true. Clever, compelling content is key in any businesses social media marketing campaign. Visual content captures the users eye and entices them to engage.

Engagement Ding! Ding! Ding! Engagement is imperative in receiving maximum results through social media. Instagram which predominately consist of pictures, memes, and videos has risen to the top of the charts in regards to the amount of time users are spending on the platform. Engaging, and ultimately purchasing items from the attached site links.

Facebook and YouTube two very popular sites. Similar to Instagram, pictures capture the users eye and intrigued them to engage. Unlike Instagram YouTube is more video content and not pictures. However both are still stimulating the visual senses and capturing the attention of the user.

Facebook in comparison to Twitter. Facebook allows a more “community based platform” whereas Twitter is a one man show. Both platforms use visual content to get noticed in a sea full of fish. Facebook has much more direct engagement . Users are able to comment, share, like, etc. to content they connect with.

Tumblr & Google+ are a few less popular social sites however not necessarily in reach, effectiveness, and amount of users. Tumblr is super beneficial if your business wants to stay connected with millennials. Funny memes, photos, and videos that are shared grasp the attention of our 18+ aged users and enhances brand awareness. Google+ can be a used as a social site similar to Facebook and also as a landing page (website) for your business.

Pinterest is designed for users to create ideas (Pins) and share with others. This platform is great for businesses such as interior design, landscaping, wedding planning and so much more. Pinterest is super popular with women users and allows businesses to showcase their unique style and previous work.

Lastly, Snapchat is just what is says. A “snap” of what's going on in real time. Content posted on Snapchat shows up for a limited time only. This concept encourages users to continue to engage and stay connected. Snapchat is also very popular with the millennials demographic. Special events, demonstrations and trending content would be great to post on a businesses Snap Chat.

After furthering my understanding of the seven social platforms that are most popular in utilizing visual content. I feel both Instagram and YouTube would be an effective way to display what my business does and allow a more intimate view of previous work done by my company.


Overall All 7 of the platforms can be resourceful and effective if the proper goal and outline are clear and executed properly!
