Upon comparison of

It's obvious both companies are
targeting anyone with children that are utilizing diapers. Econobum
however has niche out a market for parents that are “green”
concise and want to provide a more natural way of disposing of their
child's waste. Cloth diapers were popular in the pasted because they
would save parents money. Now parents are requesting cloth diapers
because of the pollution plastic diapers cause.
Based off the look and content of
Econobum's website. I would guess they are marketing to new parents.
Age demographic ranging from 27-32. Based off the price of the
diapers I'd say the income level varies mid-level to high level with
enough disposable income to afford these pretty pricey diapers.
Cheap Diapers on the other hand, also
targeting parents with children in diapers. Didn't really carve out a
niche, but appealed their brand more towards parents interested in
getting the most for their money. Unlike Econobum, Cheap Diaper
targeted parents with more than one child. Ages ranging 30 and up,
so more of the Vet parent. These parents are without a lot of
expandable income. The company did not put a huge emphasis on the
product being “green” however they did ensure affordability,
dependability quality.
Cheap Diapers did have a Call-to-Action
button that offered special deals and savings. Econobum didn't.
However they did have a tab to assist users in finding a location
nearest them to order. I'd attribute this difference to the fact that
Cheap diapers is selling direct to consumer, while Econobum sells
mostly wholesale to specialty shops and they sell direct to consumer.
This alone says a lot about the consumer. The Econobum customer has
more time! Cheap Diaper consumers need quick, fast, effective
service.
I do believe that even though the
target markets are somewhat different there is a chance for
cross-over in both cases. Parents that are using Econobum could begin
to expand their family and decide using cloth diapers is too costly
and time consuming. Consumers using Cheap Diapers could decide that
by using cloth diapers although costly upfront could save them money
and also the environment in the long run.
Great job with the analysis. I like the comment about time and how Econobum is targeting those customers.
